Overview
CISCO was the first investment banking institution to be set up in Cyprus and over the years it has established itself as one of the leading institutions in the local capital market. Overall, it has played an instrumental role in the development of the Cyprus Stock Market.
Since its incorporation in 1982, CISCO has pioneered in the following areas:
- Offered, for the first time in the local market, services relating to the flotation of major public companies (underwriting, management and selling services).
- Promoted the first corporate bond issue in the local market.
- Introduced:
- Convertible Bonds
- Bonds with detachable Share Warrants and
- Bonds with Floating Interest Rate
- Successfully founded the first Cyprus country fund, namely Cytrustees Investment Company Ltd.
- Provided consultancy services relating to company valuations, capital restructuring, feasibility studies and strategic planning.
- Acted as financial services intermediary to public takeover offers.
- Compiled The CISCO All-Share Index (1983=100), the oldest index in the market. Also, for the first time, it introduced The CISCO Selected Equity Index (1993=100). Both indices were used by the investment community and global agencies as the sole reference point for the Cyprus Stock market before the regulated exchange introduced its own index.
- Assisted many companies in raising equity and loan finance through private placements.
- Played a leading advisory role in the drafting of legislation regarding the regulation and operation of the Cyprus Stock Exchange, legislation on public takeovers and the introduction of mutual funds.
